The trainees independently decided which institutions to support and how to distribute the donations. They researched potential organizations and engaged intensively with their projects.
“By engaging with the organizations’ projects, we gained a completely different perspective on their work,” says Nathalie Morenings, a trainee IT specialist in application development at the Göttingen office, adding: “It was important to us to select aid organizations whose work particularly impressed us.”
The supported organizations cover various areas of society, from support for families with seriously ill children to the protection of women and animals, as well as inclusive educational and social initiatives.
This year, the total amount was distributed as follows:
- Butzbach animal shelter – €500
- Parents’ home for children with cancer, Göttingen – €750
- Active for dogs in need, Bovenden – €750
- LUTOM, Northeim – €750
- Friedberg women’s shelter – €1,250
- Campus Duderstadt | Caritasverband Südniedersachsen e.V. – €1,000
“We were particularly impressed by the organizations’ feedback: in addition to thank-you cards, we also received detailed information on how the donations were used. This shows that even small donations can have a big impact,” explains Jan Kaufmann, also a trainee IT specialist in application development in Göttingen.
Responsibility for the project’s content and implementation lay entirely with the seven second-year apprentices. The project always concludes with a presentation at the monthly meeting for all company employees. “Our trainees carried out the task with a great sense of responsibility,” emphasizes Eileen Zimbal, Head of Training at Arineo. “They have shown that social engagement and entrepreneurial thinking go very well together.”
The donation project is an integral part of training at Arineo and is continuously managed by the trainees. The aim is to sustainably anchor social responsibility in everyday training.
