“When we replace our hardware, our employees can purchase the device with attractive conditions. However, interest was lower than the number of laptops available, likely because our hardware and software can also be used privately. As a result, we decided to donate the remaining devices to the Göttingen branch of Computertruhe e.V., which has been active since 2021. The devices are far too valuable to dispose of,” explains Dieter Kairat, jointly responsible for device management at Arineo.
The volunteer members of Computertruhe e.V. refurbish decommissioned and donated computers and other hardware and then distribute them free of charge to people in need and charitable organizations. In Göttingen, around 60 private individuals and organizations are on the waiting list, urgently needing computers for school or training purposes. Our computers were a stroke of luck for the association as they are equipped with fast SSD storage; our IT team had already permanently erased all data. “Compared to many other devices that we distribute, the ones from Arineo are relatively new,” confirms Robi Gupta from Computertruhe e.V.
“We are very pleased about the straightforward cooperation with Computertruhe e.V. and will continue to support their valuable work. Thanks to their dedication, everyone wins: the people and associations in need and, of course, the environment. Both are very close to our hearts,” says Dieter Kairat, summarizing this successful initiative.
