When choosing a career, topics such as purpose, appreciation, teamwork, and responsibility play a greater role, especially for many young people in Generation Z who consciously seek a training company with a clear corporate culture.
Why company values are important in training
From our perspective, a training company is not just a place to learn specialist knowledge but an environment where personal development and prospects emerge. Our values shape our daily work and, of course, also the design of our training as IT specialists.
What are company values?
Company values are shared principles that define how people work together in a company. They describe what the company stands for, how decisions are made, and how people treat each other. Values shape the corporate culture and the working atmosphere – from the very first day of training.
Our values are reflected in the respectful way we treat each other – in the trust we place in our trainees and in the space we give to their own ideas. We want not only to teach young people a profession, but to support them on their journey. This includes an environment characterized by respect, openness, trust, and, yes, also a willingness to perform.

Company values in everyday working life. Two trainees report
That is why we consciously talk about our values in our monthly trainee meetings. A first-year trainee explains which company value is particularly important to them and why. In this way, our values are not only formulated, but brought to life. In this article, Lukas Schild and Michael Krabbes, trainee IT specialists in their first year, share their perspectives. They explain what values mean to them, how they experience them in their daily work, and why this played a role in their career choice.
Interview with Lukas and Michael
Why are values especially important for young people?
Lukas: At the beginning of a career, in particular, values provide guidance. You make many new decisions and seek an environment where you can develop. Values show what a company stands for and how people treat each other. This is especially important for young people because you want to grow not only professionally, but also personally.
What role did company values play in your career choice?
Michael: Company values played an important role in my career choice because I was not just looking for an apprenticeship, but for the right environment. It was important to me to work at a training company that shares my values, such as team spirit, respect, and a positive work atmosphere. The clearly defined values at Arineo showed me that it is not only performance that matters here, but also teamwork. This strengthened my decision to apply.
Which company value is most important to you personally – and why?
Michael: The value “Fun enables great things” is particularly important to me. Work should be enjoyable because, in a friendly environment, you work more motivated and more successfully. If you can laugh together and humor is part of teamwork, it strengthens team cohesion. For me, fun is not the opposite of performance, but an important foundation for achieving great things together.
Lukas: My personal favorite value is trust as a foundation. For me, trust is the basis of any good teamwork. When you are trusted, you automatically take on more responsibility and work more independently. Especially during training, it is important to be able to try things out and learn from mistakes. This trust motivates me greatly and gives me confidence.
How are our values reflected in your daily work?
Michael: In my daily work, the values are mainly reflected in the helpful and open collaboration within the team. Questions can be asked at any time, and people support each other with challenges. The value “Fun enables great things” is particularly evident in everyday interaction, as despite focused work, humor and a friendly approach are not neglected. This creates motivation and a positive working atmosphere.
Lukas: In my daily work, this is mainly reflected in the trust placed in me. I am allowed to take on tasks independently and assume responsibility. At the same time, I know I can get support whenever I need it. Open exchange within the team and constructive feedback are clear signs for me that the values are truly being put into practice.
What would you say to other pupils who are currently looking for an apprenticeship?
Michael: When choosing your apprenticeship, pay attention not only to duties or salary, but also to the corporate culture and the values that are lived. An apprenticeship is an important stage of life, which is why it is crucial to feel comfortable in the company, to be taken seriously, and to share similar basic attitudes.
Lukas: Find out about the company in advance, look at its values, and, if possible, talk to employees or trainees. If the environment suits you, this is a strong foundation for a successful and fulfilling apprenticeship.
