IT Internship Overview

FAQ for pupils

During your school internship, you’ll gain hands-on insight into how IT careers work. Here are some of the things you’ll learn:

  • the basics of programming and software development
  • how IT teams work together
  • how ideas become digital solutions
  • which tasks IT specialists in application development take on
  • how projects are planned and implemented

You will work together with experienced colleagues and be able to try things out yourself – asking questions is expressly encouraged.

The internship is aimed at pupils:

  • from year 9 onwards
  • with an interest in IT, technology, or digital topics
  • regardless of school type or previous knowledge

No prior knowledge is required. Curiosity, motivation, and a desire to learn new things are more than sufficient.

FAQ for parents and teachers

Yes. The school internship is specifically designed for teenagers with no programming experience. What matters most are interest, curiosity, and a willingness to learn new things. Technical fundamentals are taught in a way that is age-appropriate and practical.

Pupils receive a realistic insight into:

  • the IT career path in IT Specialization: Data and Process Analysis
  • teamwork in IT projects
  • fundamental ways of thinking and working in software development

In addition to first technical insights, so-called future skills are especially strengthened:

  • logical thinking and problem-solving ability
  • teamwork and communication skills
  • independence and sense of responsibility
  • creativity and structured working methods

These skills are relevant not only to IT careers but also to many professional fields.

Pupils are personally supported by trainees during the internship and integrated into existing teams. There are designated contacts who answer questions, explain tasks, and support the learning process.

The internship usually lasts two weeks and takes place in the Göttingen offices. It can be completed as a compulsory or voluntary internship and can also be done during school holidays.

Absolutely. Arineo places great importance on addressing all genders equally. The internship shows that IT careers are varied and that creativity, communication, and teamwork are just as important as technical understanding.

Usually required are:

  • confirmation from the school regarding the internship
  • an internship agreement (if required by the school)
