Vocational Diploma, Training, Recruiting
This straightforward path wasn’t always clear to me. After completing my vocational diploma, I didn’t want to hit the books again; I wanted hands-on experience. I quickly found a spot in an office management training program and successfully completed my training after just two and a half years. I focused on HR management, assistance, and administrative tasks during my training. Recruiting was something I kind of “fell into”. I found the tasks very interesting and gradually took on more responsibility in the area. That’s how I found my dream job.
From trainee to trainer
After my training, I had the opportunity to stay in recruiting. I took over application management, moving it forward independently, and earned my training certification. To further develop my skills, I attended additional seminars and still make use of every opportunity to continue learning. The recruiting and application management fields are constantly evolving, bringing new challenges and topics.
University was an option, but I’m too practical for that
Admittedly, the question “Studying or training?” was on my mind for a long time. But deep down, I knew I wasn’t the “academic type” and would have had to “force” myself through a degree. Choosing vocational training was the right path. I’m not even 30 yet, but I already have seven years of experience in HR. If I had studied, I’d probably just be starting my career now.
Profession. Vocation. Career.
My takeaway is that you don’t necessarily need a degree to build a career. Vocational training is a direct entry into the workforce, exposing you to many departments and helping you find the right fit for your strengths and interests. And learning doesn’t stop after the training. You can specialize further, maybe even study part-time, and keep moving forward in your career. Ultimately, it’s about your own mindset and what you make of the opportunities given to you. After all, an office management qualification is very versatile, opening many doors. I’m delighted with my path and wouldn’t change a thing.
