Mercedes has been working as a project manager in the e-commerce sector at Arineo since December 2021. Before that, she spent many years in large corporations before deciding to move to a company with a cooperative organization and a unique philosophy: Arineo belongs to the employees themselves and, therefore, cannot be sold. This security and the opportunity to act independently were the key reasons for Mercedes to realign her career.
“I’ve already been sold three times in my professional life. Each time, it was a culture shock that was more exhausting than exciting. At Arineo, I feel that I’m really part of a team that sticks together and thinks long-term.”
Starting in a new corporate culture was initially an adjustment for Mercedes. In her previous career, she was used to having every decision approved by several hierarchy levels. At Arineo, on the other hand, personal responsibility is a top priority.
“I was finally allowed to take full responsibility for my decisions. It was challenging but also incredibly fulfilling. I knew that I’d arrived.”
What Mercedes particularly appreciates at Arineo is working in a team. “Our successes are never individual achievements. It is always a ‘we’. After a successful project, we celebrate together and know that we achieved this as a team. “ She experiences this sense of teamwork more strongly at Arineo than in large corporations with less focus on community.
Mercedes has undergone not only a professional transformation at Arineo but also a personal one. “I am more relaxed and communicative today. The culture at Arineo, where the focus is on people and strengths are encouraged, is something I get to experience anew every day.” In the future, Mercedes would like to pass on her knowledge and actively support the development of young professionals. She is particularly excited about the long-term plans for the corporate academy at Arineo, where knowledge will be shared both internally and externally. She is convinced that this exchange will benefit everyone.
When Mercedes thinks of her former self in the corporate world today, she has a clear message:
“Find a place where you can be more yourself.” She found that place at Arineo. Her advice to others considering a career change: “Believe in yourselves! Get out of your comfort zone because that’s where growth and freedom begin.”
